By going through some common scenarios that crop up in General Practice, I hope to illustrate:
Some of the basic principles that underpin Adult Safeguarding
When to make a referral by understanding Adult Social Services threshold and the use of Early Help
How to make a good referral so that it doesn’t get rejected
How we can work with our safeguarding partners to share the load and the risk
Some practical steps we can take to improve our safeguarding processes within our Practices
The safeguarding risks of patients having access to their medical records and how to mitigate them

She does one clinical session a week in a Practice in Birmingham. She started her career in safeguarding in 2014 as a “Safeguarding Champion” for Birmingham Cross City CCG.
She has been a Named GP for NHS Birmingham and Solihull ICB Safeguarding team since 2018 and does 5.5 sessions a week. As part of this role, she has responsibility for the Learning and Development programme in Birmingham and Solihull and has therefore been very active in
